How to Trust an Online Pharmacy
For some people, it is hard to get to the pharmacy and get medication. Maybe they have disabilities that prevent them from getting around. Perhaps they have limited transportation. People who are ill find it to be an inconvenience to stand in a long line at the pharmacy every month, waiting for their medicine to get filled. Have you ever considered using an online pharmacy? Online pharmacies are becoming more and more popular. However, some people are leery about purchasing their prescriptions online, and that is understandable. This article will ease your mind by giving you some information about how to find an online pharmacy that is legal and safe. This information is valuable to everyone.
Step 1
With the large amounts of information online, how do you know that the online pharmacy that you choose is legal and safe? There are 4 agencies that online pharmacies are regulated by to ensure quality control when licensing.
*The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) - They are the authority for ALL prescription and over–the–counter medications, as well as other health care products that are manufactured or sold in the United States. It is a federal law that all medications available in the United States MUST meet USP's public standards. Therefore, if an online pharmacy does not affiliate with The USP, do not use them! You can visit the USP website at www.usp.org.
* The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) –This is the federal organization that is responsible for regulating foods, human and animal drugs, and medical devices and ensuring that these things are all safe, wholesome sanitary, and effective for public use. If an online pharmacy is not affiliated with the FDA, not only are they unlicensed, but they are operating illegally! You can visit the official FDA website at www.fda.gov.
* National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) – This is the organization that all pharmacies need to go through to obtain licensing. If you want to find an online pharmacy, you can visit their web page for a list. www.nabp.net.
* Verified Internet Pharmacy practice Sites. (VIPPS) – This organization verifies licensure for an online pharmacy. If an online pharmacy is recognized by VIPPS, the site will have a hyperlinked seal displayed on the homepage of the site. You can click on the seal to be directed to the VIPPS website.

Online PharmaciesHere are some tips to help you determine if the online pharmacy is legit.
* A real licensed online pharmacy will always show immediate proof of legality, usually right on the website homepage. Any refusal to verify credentials, should not only be avoided, but also reported!
* A real online pharmacy will not dispense medications to anyone without a valid prescription from a doctor. If they do not require you to provide a prescription to obtain any drug that normally requires one, stay away!
*All pharmacies are certified by the state. They are not allowed to operate in a state other than the one they are licensed in. If the online pharmacy is not licensed in your state, do not use them...And by the way, online pharmacies located outside of the US are most likely scams.
